In the book\, a group of animals stages a rebellion on a dilapidated farm to free themselves from a tyrannical farmer\, only to be subjugated to a new despot from their own ranks. A very intriguing analogy on the events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917 and then on into the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union.

DESCRIPTION:Genocide\, war crimes\, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. Some of the most severe crimes that often result in thousands\, if not millions\, of casualties. Yet\, the people responsible for these crimes are often hard to prosecute. \nThe International Criminal Court in The Netherlands tries those who are responsible for the gravest crime of concern to the international community. With 123 members\, it is the biggest court that could try individuals for above mentioned crimes. \nOn the 13th of March\, HonEURs and Astrea will visit the the International Criminal Court and will be given a guided tour there. DESCRIPTION:We are organizing a sustainability dinner with experts in the field of sustainability. The speakers will start by introducing themselves\, after which the speakers and attendees will have an amazing three-course vegan dinner together at the one and only Backyard. The speakers rotate places after each course\, giving the attendees the opportunity to talk to multiple experts in sustainability. You can join us for only 5€ on the 6th of May\, 18:00 at Backyard and talk to these experts: \n▪️David Theuvenet – Founder of the project “One in 7 billion”\, planning for an alternative economic model to replace capitalism based on companies’ profit to build a better life for us.  \n▪️Stephanie Middeldorp – Founder and owner of the Instagram Shop “Firstserved Vintage” and involved in the sustainable fashion industry. \n▪️Lex Burdorf – Professor and chair of taskforce sustainability at Erasmus MC and an expert in sustainability in the context of public health. \n▪️Mariecke van der Glas – Program Manager of Sustainability at EUR\, which entails supporting the implementation of the university’s sustainable agenda\, including the EUR strategy titled “Taking responsibility for Sustainability” for 2019-2024. \n▪️Louise Postema – Program Officer at the Global Center on Adaptation\, an international organization aiming to accelerate and lead global actions to make our societies resilient to climate change. SUMMARY:Putin’s Russia and its influence on former-Soviet states:  The Geopolitical Challenges faced in Europe and the Caucasus
DESCRIPTION:On the 24th of February\, the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine\, resulting in one of the most significant conflicts on the European continent since World War II. While the international community reacted with outrage\, the Ukrainian people suffer\, and the European Union and its American ally rallied their forces to the outer extent of NATO’s border\, the question arises whether this conflict could have been foreseen. In 2008\, similar events occurred with a 4-day war in Georgia\, where the Russian Federation invaded the country and fueled a conflict with backing separatists from South-Ossetia and Abkhazia. Ten years later\, in 2018\, the annexation of Crimea took place. Russian aggression towards independent states\, mainly former-Soviet states\, has not been anything new.  \nThis event aims to delve into the topic of Russian aggression\, the threats former-Soviet states such as Ukraine and Georgia face\, and the reaction of the European Union towards these political developments. A panel discussion will be held with three guest speakers providing their insights and expertise on these topics to achieve a broader understanding of the situation. Afterwards\, students have the chance to ask the speakers some questions during a Q&A. \nOur speakers are as follows: \n\n\nDr. Asya Zhelyazkova (Assistent Professor in European Union Politics and Public Policy at EUR) \n\n\nCorneliu Bobeica (Counsellor at the Embassy of Moldova to the United Kingdom of the Netherlands) \n\n\nH.E. DESCRIPTION:The Economic Faculty association Rotterdam (EFR) in cooperation with Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) organises a Model United Nations conference from the 31st of March until the 2nd of April this year! Sporting several committees and a press corps\, this MUN caters the needs of MUN veterans\, experts and newbies alike. Furthermore\, be ready to have a thrilling time outside of the conference rooms too: lunches and social drinks to get to know your fellow delegates from all around the globe! \nAs a member of HonEURs\, you will receive a €10 discount! So make sure to sign up through our form so you can join our delegation.  \nThe main goal of the delegates is to create and share resolutions for the topics in discussion\, taking into consideration the policies and the culture of the country that you are representing.
